Hey Everyone!
First full week in Huarmey down, and man was it cool! We got to have our first baptism, of Pedro Castillo Garcia. He is the father of our pensionista, and he is just a sweet man who wanted to change his life. I had the privilege to baptize him right here in the river in Huarmey, since we don't have a font and it was very cool. We had to go through a couple chacras, which is basically a plantation, to get to the sight where he could be baptized. Elder Qualls and I helped him down into the water, and then I had to dunk him twice, because his hair didn't go all the way under the first time. Poor Guy. He seemed a little frustrated because he didn't like the water much. But he did bathe himself in the river after the baptism, which was rather Peruvian.
Anyway, we have another baptism scheduled for this Saturday! She's a sweet girl who has been very interested in the gospel. Hopefully it will go as planned. WE think that we have the potential to baptize every week in this change, so how exciting is that? The Lord is really blessing us here in Huarmey!
Other than that, we're just out on the streets all day, trying to find people to teach! My shoes are really dirty, and I love it. I really was going to send pictures this week...but this internet cafe stinks and their computers are acting up. I really want to show you guys the baptism and stuff, and I'll do it ASAP!

Merry Christmas!

Hey Everyone!
Tons of news. Bad news first. I don't get to call you guys. I know, I was pretty bummed, but they simply don't have enough phones to give everyone time. That's okay though, because we still have Mother's Day coming in May! I also get to email you guys on the 27th, which is the day I leave for Trujillo, to tell you that I got there safely. It's only about a 45 minute flight, which is nice. I'm so excited to go.
Guess what! We had an EARTHQUAKE! That's right, I was in a size 4 earthquake on Monday night. Our beds were shaking and some of the Latinos were screaming...funny thing is, I didn't wake up. Not even once. That's right, I have now been in an earthquake, but I wasn't even conscious. Awesome. No damage was done to anything anywhere in Lima, so it was basically just a fun story to tell.
Today was out Pday, and we get to relax the whole time. We get some real food (ham and cheese sandwiches, coke, cinnamon rolls) and we get to watch the Polar Express too! I'm pretty excited about it. Tomorrow we only have sacrament meeting, and we're going to go caroling and walk around the temple. It should be a very enjoyable Christmas.
As far as I know, I'm leaving for Trujillo on the 27th, and will be getting there pretty early in the morning. I will let you guys know what happens ASAP. Can't believe this is the last letter I will write to you guys from the MTC. It sure has flown!
I love you all so much. Being out here makes me realize how important each and every one of you are to me. Thanks for always being there for me. Pray for me tonight after the Punchinello story!

News
Hello all!
Peru is still having beautiful weather. So I am sure you are all jealous...
Anyway, news first. I will not be writing you guys next Wednesday, because they are changing our P day to Christmas Eve, Saturday. So just a heads up there so nobody freaks out. Also, I have no idea if I will be able to call on Christmas. I've heard both yes and no, so just stay by the phone that day.
Not much to report here. Things are going well. I'm just itchy to get out of the MTC. I feel like my Spanish is as ready as it is going to be, and I actually am comfortable in terms of my knowledge of lessons and the scriptures. I got to go to the Lima temple for the last time today, which made me sad. Everyone pray that the Trujillo temple gets built in time so I can go at least once!
I'll be tracting this Saturday, so hopefully I will have some awesome stories for you. I have a new Ecuadorian companion. My US companions are the same.
Hope you are all well! Wish that I could be spending Christmas with you all, but I know a need to be here!

Hello Everyone!

Hi Peeps!
What a crazy week!I'm writing this news of the week first and I am attaching two pictures! This week was great! Tracting with my Latino companion was super fun. We got a real taste of missionary work! We ended up giving out two Books of Mormon, and got a ton of other people who wanted the missionaries to visit their houses later.
Funny story of the experience though. We ended up going into the house of a member lady and her son. Unfortunately, she was wearing a Texas A&M shirt. I just kinda ignored it, and later found out that she didn't even know it was a university. Anyway, she and her son are talking to us, and suddenly the son goes back into the kitchen and gets two glasses of what looks like wine. He gives it to Elder Muralles and I and I'm kinda just staring at it like, Is this dude, who's a member, really giving us wine? Elder Muralles just starts downing the glass, and I figure what the heck, if he's doing it, I guess it's ok. I start drinking it and its disgusting! Later I found out that it's a super popular drink in Peru. A juice made from blue corn. The guy gave us two classes each. I almost died.
Anyway, its transition time here at the CCM. All the Latinos stayed for three weeks, so Elder Muralles is gone. It's kinda empty here, but we should be getting a new batch of missionaries in today sometime. I can't believe I'm almost done with the MTC! We got to go to the temple today, and I went through for Kayleigh's uncle Fred. Such a great experience. Today, we also go get to tour the historical sights of Lima as a group. Should be a blast.
Hope you guys are all surviving the cold! It's 70 degress and sunny here:) The blessings of going on a mission...
